I've now created a Motorola v600 flashing and flexing guide (http://www.mob453.com/phones/motorola_v600/) for all those who are worried and/or not sure how to flash/flex their Motorola V600!

Please post any feedback/suggestions/errors/anything else like whether you found the guide to be helpful or not, etc. here so that I can help make it as easy to follow and perform as possible!  Very Happy

Hi All,
Have a problem,  I installed the software exactly as instructed in the manual... being a computer literate person I know that this was done correctly. Issues that arise is when I try to flex the fone using SE6452AXX I get a Program Error and the Multi Proggie shuts down... Why is this ? When I run P2KMAN.EXE I can communicate fine with the phone. I have uninstalled and the PST app with the patch. I am using WIN2KSP4. HELP SOME1 Smile
I need to increase my SMS inbox.

Resolved issues - Upgraded PST to version 6.9.2 then applied 6.7 patch and all flashed fine. When tryin to flash SE6452 complained about Hex on file ? Maybe file is K-Rupt, will inform l8r.

Glad you sorted it in the end, wasn't around earlier to read this thread.

The file from this site shouldn't be corrupt, as it's the one I used myself when flashing my V600, so let me know how it goes and if you get to flash it successfully - it's worth all the hassle! Smile

Hey i did everything that the tutorial said. It looks good thank you. However, now my greeting says "Flex Error: Phone Subsidy-Locked" ...what does that mean, how do i get rid of it? I tried to just change my greeting, but it goes back to that everytime i rebbot the phone .

This is what i used
a flash/flex file. I used TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A / SE6446AXXF10F8 - 11.2MB, which is both the flash and the flex file combined - note: version may vary if you use files from other resources.

You get Phone Subsidy-Locked becuase you have a locked handset.

It's not big deal really there's nothnig majorly wrong with the phone.

Yep, the flash file on this forum will do the trick. If you get errors with that file, give the flash / flex files at http://v600.cjb.net/ a try. The flashing process is identical to that shown Alecos' guide.

FYI for the v525 flash to v600:::
I followed all the directions and everything went fine.  I first used the TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A_LP0039_JPG_0B_TRIP_0B_04.05R_SE6446AXXF10F8_1FF.shx file to flash.  Everything went fine in the program.  BUT!  When I turned my phone on, I could tell the Vodafone power on was gone, but my screen is totally blank and so is the mini screen on the opposite side!  I have power and the button works, but no picture!!!!!  So I go the firmware file TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.45R_reflash.hmg and everything was cool!  Thank God!

I was worried there for a minute!

I have a v525 from vodafone spain... I want to flash/flex it to a v600 but I'm not sure about some things... 1. The phone is unlocked (I've heard that flashing/flexing a spanish vodafone v525 will get it locked again) 2. I've also heard that if you flash the same vodafone v525 it kinda messes up with your camera... it doesn't work anymore 3. Will this flash/flex remove the vodafone branding?? Very Happy 4. Will the v600@v525 be able to play videos ??? A lot of anticipated 10x.

1. will get it locked again

I doubt it with the flash/flex hosted on mob453.com

2. I've also heard that if you flash the same vodafone v525 it kinda messes up with your camera... it doesn't work anymore

There were situations where people with a slightly modified camera from motorola had problems when flashing to this firmware version.

3. Will this flash/flex remove the vodafone branding??

Yes

4. Will the v600@v525 be able to play videos ???

Yes

Hi, I was super excited to discover this site yesterday and I eagerly followed each step in the guide, exactly as specified. I'm very computer literate and I know that I installed this correctly. But despite 12 tries, uninstalling, and then installing again, I have yet to get this to work.

MultiFlash detects my V300 just fine. The device drivers in my Windows hardware profile are happy with no yellow excalamation signs on it. PK2Man is able to query my phone with no problems. However when I try to flash it, it ALWAYS crashes. Here'e the header of the crash:

"PhoneFlash MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."

NOTE: I have done this on THREE different machines and get the same error, which leads me to believe an app compatibility error. I'm using XP Pro with ALL patches and device drivers. Am I doing something obviously wrong to not get this to work?

Can someone help debug my problem? Anyone else have a crash when doing this? Is it because I'm using a V300 with the software designed for V600?

same sw works on a t720, v60 v66, v60i, v66i, c300, c350, a835, a920, a830, v70.

I'd say your setup is at fault.

Try loading up the flash and test commands program, not multiflashflex.

Hey!  I have sucessfully flashed my v525 to a v600.  There is one thing...Where the date is usually shown on the the main screen, it says GPRS instead.  Even when I turn the phone on at first it says the date there but then it changes to the GPRS again.  Anyone know how to make it view the date all the time??

Thanks!

Hi

The driver file (p2kman_pst.zip) doesn't contain a .inf file and wont work, and the readme file seems to be corrupted as it's gibberish.

Please help.

EDIT:

Win98SE knows it's connected to a V600, but when I browse to the folder where I unzipped the p2kman_pst.zip file the ok button is greyed out because there is no .inf file.

Am I missing something here?

If you screw it up (which is unlikely if you follow the guide Wink) you'll have a messed up phone.

I got my v300 on the 14th

I followed the instructions but

Cool  MultiFlashFlex isnt detecting my phone nor is Device manager

Can anyone tell me what to do please   Cool  Embarassed   Sad  Crying or Very sad

Hey, all! I've been trying for several days to flash my phone, but am having some problems that I assume are related to drivers. I have been able to get Phone Tools to recognize the phone, and had no problem transferring data both ways.

The problem comes when I try to run MultiFlashFlex 1.8, the phone cannot be found. I'm assuming that this is beacuse of the multiple driver failures that I am seeing in hardware manager. I've tried reinstalling the drivers with the PST drivers downloaded from MotClub, but they either won't take, or I'm installing the wrong driver for the wrong device.

ok remove your motorola usb modem from control panel

load up multiflash flex

plus your phone into the usb cable

and when the pc says found new hardware search manually for the pst folder and choose p2k.sys

phonetools has it's own driver which is newer than p2k and has less options, and it sounds like your pc is defaulting to the newer driver.

Well I tried this but still no luck. I can get this to run OK on a PC, but not on my laptop. The Hardware wizard will NOT run for the other drivers. It will ONLY install the USB Modem drivers.

Any other siggestions?

I'm guessing it's a USB driver problem here as it looks like it's not finding the phone. Unfortunately it's late here and I've had a long day, so will try and look into it in the morning - although anyone else please jump in if you know a quick fix for this! Wink

I still don't understand why sometimes this program works, and others it just dies spectacularly! Rolling Eyes

Double check all USB drivers for the phone are installed would be my advice at the moment

It's a known issue with the 1DR frimware version. Try downloading and upgrading to the newest 45R version here (http://www.v600.cjb.net/)

Try uninstalling the pst drivers or install the mpt / pst again. I've had this happen to me several times.....

The phone connects to the pc without any problems for weeks and then it randomly decides not to connect Confused even though my system has not changed in any way whatsoever. Then you try to connect another time and it's miraculously started to work correctly again Confused

Maybe someone can shed some light on this?

Glad you solved the other problem! Very Happy

Which flash/flex did you use? You may have a version which doesn't allow phone based sms storage. If you don't want to bother flashing again, you can hex edit the firmware on the phone which should allow you to store messages on the phone again. I'm pretty certain there's a tool to do this for you, but afraid I can't recall what it is (someone here will know though!).

So either:
1. change the flex (you can leave the flash as it is)
2. hex edit the firmware

« Reply #52 on: August 11, 2004, 11:28:10 PM »

i have flex version:
GI9V600000AA0E9.hs
flash version:
TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.45R_reflash.shx

if someone can recommend what i upgrade/change to so that i can use my phone to store my messages id be very grateful.

id rather flash than hex edit, i know how to flash and ive got everything backed up on my comp

Nope the phone suspends bluetooth when it boots in flash mode.

SE6446AXXF10F8 has mass phone based sms storage.

You can download it from this site. But it's combined with the 1DR firmware as well.

i flashed this morning to

Flex version: SE6452AXXP10F9

Does that store sms on the sim though?

From what I have read it doesn't.

Origianally I flashed with the combined 1DR / SE6446AXXF10F8 file hosted on this site and then applied the 45R firmware over that. The flex stays the same.

Laughing  I'll stick with it then.

Most peeps at howard forums reckcon GI9V600000AA0E9 and 45R firmware is the best combo.

Perosnally I like my SMS stored on the phone and not the sim  Cool

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.

hey,

to fix the MFC problem... here it goes...

there's 3 files for download on that page..

PST 6.7
PST6.7 Upgrade
P2kMAN

i know what you did wrong, coz i did too!

follow my new steps Smile

Install PST 6.7...
Unzip the PST 6.7 upgrade to the same folder...

make a folder called P2kman inside the PST folder
unzip the p2kman files into that p2kman FOLDER

now TRY FLEXING!!!  hahahahahaa

I love my v400 with the new flash and flex.  It's quick and seems to be working great.  Even loaded a game without any problems.  I realy don't have anyhting to compair it to since I just bought it and then flashed it right away.  When I move to Europe in March, I hope it works just as well their.  Thanks again for all of your help.

By the way, does anyone know where I can get a v500 front for my v400.  I really like the blue insert to the silver shell, but I can't find anyone who sells them.

Thanks.

ok so the reason it says subsidy locked is because t-mobile lock their phones and the fw you have flashed with is for non locked phones, which is how you get the subsidy locked message appear when you turn on your phone.

to remove it get your phone unlocked if the message is bothering you.

To fix the camera problem, you'll need a newer version of the flash file (have a read through these threads for the link).

You'll need to delete the web sessions to connect ot the internet. To delete websessions from the V600, start up P2Kman and locate the /a/WebSession file (at the bottom). Once deleted, restart your phone and your websessions should be gone! You can then use the Phone setup link in the useful links section of http://www.mob453.com/phones/motorola_v600/ to get the internet settings sent to your phone for free.

Hi there.

I read the whole guide.  Just one quick question.  I have an unlocked ATT v600 phone (unlocked with the subsidy code).  I am currently unable to use WAP, I'm guessing because of ATT's software?

If I use the guide here, would I be able to fix that issue?  Also, would I be able to setup my WAP, internet, SMS, etc?  I reside in the States, if that makes any difference.  Thanks!

Hi there,

I have a few questions about flashing/flexing, if someone could spare a moment to help me out I'd be very grateful! Here's my phone information:

Phone : Motorola V525
Network : O2
Flex version : SE7405AXXL30AF
My S/W version : TRIPLETS_G_0B.08.8FR_V

1) I read somewhere that flashing/flexing an unlocked v525 would lock it again. Is this true?

2) How new is my firmware? Just wondering how the numbering system works. Is it the higher the number the newer the firmware?

3) What would you reccommend me upgrading to in order to store more messages and play videos? And a link would be great Smile

Thanks for your time,

Sam

Just popping on briefly so quick reply - if you use the flash/flex from this site it will NOT lock your phone again. Generally, sim-free (ie non-branded) flashes/flexes won't lock your phone, so you should be ok!

2) How new is my firmware?

It's ooooooooold. The frimware numbers and letters are hex so a higher combination of numbers / letters would denote a newer version.
3) What would you reccommend me upgrading to in order to store more messages and play videos? And a link would be great Smile

If you look a few posts back, Aleco has posted the link to the flash / flex guide. It has all the info you need to update your firmware in order to play videos and store more sms.

I decided just to flex my phone to GI9V600000AA0E9 for starters. I now have the ability to play videos and store more SMS.

Just one more quick question... is it worth flashing my phone as well? I now have the extra features I wanted, so I was just wondering what flashing might do for me?

Thanks,

Speed the phone up, slightly improve camera picture quality, save pictures to the phone faster and eradicate some bugs from some of the earlier software versions.

Aleco,
First of all, thanks so much for the in depth guide, I have been wanting to tweak my phones for a while but never new how or where to start, now I know what to do.. Just a few questions..

My V300 also has the same problem of enter subsidy code, and camera does not work, you mentioned to load a more current flex..  And said look around the forum, would you be able to tell me which one would be newer, and how would you know? Also, when I loaded that Triplets...... File, that was the flex only,  correct?  Where do I locate the flash, and how do I know which flash to use.

I have tmobile for both phones, but on my v600, I know that inside it has the 850, but tmobile customers did not have it active, now that I did the flex, it says quad band, does it mean that it is now quad band and will work on 850, or do I need to seem edit it to do so?  And how do I unlock the phones?  Thanks so much for your help again. . You don’t have a paypal account do you< I need to drop you a few bucks for all the headaches you saved me..

Thanks

Only on v briefly so will answer properly later - the file on this site with the guide is a combined flash/flex, the newest version of flash only ends in 4AR (45R is also pretty new) so either of those will solve the camera problem (i'll get links later if you can't find any on here).

Your phone is now quad band as T-Mobile disable it via the flex, and should automatically be active.

I must dash now but I'll read through your post properly later and post up more detail!

You should be able to flash back to the 525 firmware provided you are able to obtain a copy of that firmware. It may not be the exact same one as the one you are currently using either.

However, chances are it should go smoothly so hopefully no need for the 525 firmware!

Have you looked in the sticky at the top of this forum with useful Motorola tools in? There's a link to a program which does all the hex editing for you so all you need to do it download the relevant seems off your phone using PST, run the program on those files, and reupload them!

If it's a bit unclear post back here and we'll provide more detailed instructions.

Sorry late reply,

When using the Motorola Tools program, simply click on "Remove GPRS Text", it'll then prompt you to locate the place where you saved the 01a8_0001 seem. Select that and it should save it with all the changes required to it.

You just then need to upload the seem again to the phone and it's all done!

The patch is supplied with the Motorola PST software which is hosted on this site. The appliaction attempts to install it as part of the PST install process.

Hi ,
I have a V525 (unlocked on Vodafone)
The Firmware is TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.38R_V (this is supposed to be Fast & reliable ?? Is this true ?)

Can i keep this Version & just flex to a later version of software to give me the functions of the V600 ??

Which Flex is recommended ??

Will my current Isp Email settings, MMs settings be lost if i flex ??

Are there any other probs i may encounter ??
Sorry for all the questions

Thanks V Much

What can i say but whahooooo....I love my v600 moto again!

The other night i flashed the firmware to 4AR which fixed my lockups which was giving me so much grief and i was almost to the point of throwing it at the o2 rep that sold it me.

Tonight after reading a few forums i took the plunge and updated the flex to G19V600000AA0E9 and the 02 branding as gone forever (good ridance). The only thing i lost was the 2 games which was no big deal (dont get time to play them anyway) phonebook was restored from a backup and that was it job done so too speak.

So I'm well pleased now as the phone seems so much more responsive than on its original firmware/flex.

I currently have a V600 with Flex SE6446AXXF10F8 and TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A

Is this the latest version ?

I'm on the Orange network but have a problem where when I recieve a voicemail it displays gobbledegook in the 'from' field.  Is there a new firmware that resolves this problem or is it something else ?

I bought the phone pre-flashed so would need a cable to reflash - any ideas where the best place to get one is please ?

Cheers

Which Windows Version are you using? Can you connect to the phone using other programs? Does the program find the phone?

Also, did you unzip the original PST 6.7 file and then unzip the PST 6.7 patch into the C:\Program Files\Motorola\PST folder ? It will ask if you want to overwrite files, so click yes

Alco - thanks for the great v600 flash/flex guide, the best I've seen.  Even so, I'm still having problems and am fairly computer literate.

Guide followed to the letter up until the point of starting the MultiFlashFlex.exe and installing the drivers.

p2kman_pst.zip doesn't actually contain any drivers, at least none that Windows 2000 Pro can find, and the links at http://motclub.com/html/drivers.htm produce 404 errors, so I had to hunt around elsewhere - luckily there were a set on the CD-ROM that came with my USB cable, version 2.3.0.0.

Windows asked me to install no less than seven instances of the driver, after which I restarted.

When I plug the phone in, it lights up and "Motorola USB Modem" appears in Device Manager.  I have no problem connecting to the phone - using it to connect to the Internet for example - until I start MultiFlashFlex.exe. Then the modem entry disappears and seven entries are added under "Motorola USB Device", from "Accessories Interface" through to "Test Command Interface".  All are shown as failed, the error "Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device".

I've tried all the usual tricks, stopping and restarting everything, removing then re-installing the drivers, but always the same thing.

MultiFlashFlex.exe cannot "find" the phone, so I'm completely stuck and being limited to storing ten text messages is driving me nuts!  Mad

If anyone has a fix or even a few things to try, it would be appreciated!  Thanks!

When I did this I had to use PST 6.3.1 from http://motclub.com/html/programs.htm#pst and not 6.7 as specified in the guide. Then I connected the phone, powered it off, pressed *, # and power at the same time to show bootloader info and then the pc asked for another driver which I duly installed from the pst folder. Result: multiflashflex worked ok every time.

does anyone know when the new flash/flex files are coming out which will allow video recording on the V500, V600 and the like?

ME!!!

So I've spent the past two weeks spending a shameful amount of free time doing nothing but trying to figure out how to flew this stupid phone.  And I finally thought I was there, but the I got some error "Flash failed! Cannot access Motorola Flash interface.

I've already un-installed and re-installed PST and the patch and p2kman.  I've removed MPT so that the driver wouldn't interfere.  And I finally downloaded the p2kman driver 2.3 from limewire becuase I have absolutely no idea how to do anything with motclub, despite having spent hours searching forums on how to access it.  I can't even view the FAQ section so that I can read how to do it.

So I'm trying to get this stupid driver to work, and I keep having to uninstall the motorola modem from the device manager.  When I try to reinstall it, windows 2000 pro does it automatically and won't let me specify WHAT driver to use.  Not that I even know which one it is.  So then I see this yellow question mark in the hardware wizard, and I uninstalled it figuring it might be something relevant.  BIG MISTAKE!!!  I'm now missing a ton of stuff from my computer.  No more internet (on a roommate's now), no more downloads.

I've read through a bunch of troubleshooting threads on different forums, and I still have no idea on how to get the right driver on.  If anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated.

So a few hours later, and I'm still on someone else's computer.  I wiped everything out again, and started from scratch again.  Here's the thing - when I first plug in the phone, the device manager sees it as a Motorola Modem.  After I open MultiFlashFlex, it asks to find a bunch of drivers.

If you cancel its detection of those drivers, the device manager sees a Motorola USB device and under that is like 4-6 Motorola v400 yellow question marks.

If I enter the P2k.sys folder as the driver location(both the download version in Aleco's instructions and a p2k driver 2.3 that I got off limewire), the device manager sees a motorola usb device with a bunch of stuff under it - accessory interface controller something something.

After 7 hours trying to get this to work, I'm going to bed.

The drivers i've always used have been the ones located in the PST root folder. Just direct the hardware config tool to that location.
the device manager sees a motorola usb device with a bunch of stuff under it - accessory interface controller something something.

Dont worry about that, if the PC has detected them then there is a reason for having it.

DrNo - I uninstalled and re-installed all over again, this time using JUST the files from Aleco's guide.  Still not working.

Now, when I open MultiFlashFlex, I get an error message reading "error reading file header."  If I click OK, the program opens.

After I opened MFF, I connected the phone.  It says "New Hardware Found Motorola Phone (V400)." It then asks where drivers are and I direct it to the ...Motorola\PST file.  The it says new hardware found again and Data Logging DSP Interface.  I direct it to the same driver file, and after that it says something about installed, but may not be working.  Then it does the same thing for Data Logging MCO interfate and Accessories Interface.

After I finish installing, the Device Manager detects a Motorola USB Device but no Motorola Modem.

It I click hardware wizard and then add/troubleshoot, there's no motorola modem.  But if I click unplug/uninstall, then check the hidden devices box, there is a motorola modem, but also three yellow question marks that say motorola phone v400.

Now MFF says connected, but it doesn't say what phone or anything.  Then when I click start, it says "FLASH crased.  Please repeat the operation.  Checking phone..."

I'm moving BACKWARDS.  Where did I go wrong???
What am I doing wrong?

Try skipping the detection bit by putting it into bootmode - hold * and # then switch it on. It should go into bootmode. Now try flashing the phone to see if that works.

I'll keep trying to think of other solutions in the meantime! You've used the patch files too haven't you?

Aleco you're a genius.  Worked like a charm.

Sorry for all the drama - I know bootloader mode was suggested earlier in the thread.  I was just terrified I was going to kill my phone.  I didn't want to try anything if it might ruin it.

Thanks for all the help.   Very Happy

Hey glad it worked! The software for flashing and even just copying pics over (mobile phone tools etc) don't work well at the best of times, so sometimes it's easier to skip solving the problem and find an easy route as you may find it later decides to work for absolutely no reason at all! Hey all.  Sorry - back again.

I didn't flash my phone with the file on this site - I used TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4AR, which (from what I can gather) is a slightly newer version than the one provided by the forum that has apparently been reviewed as being very stable and dependable by other forums.

Well, I'm interested in flexing now, to get rid of the crappy Cingular branding on my phone.  I have downloaded a few flex files, but I can't get MFF to recognize any of them.  I also tried using the one from mob453's tutorial and when I try to browse to the flex file, it won't detect any of them.  Apparently no ".hx" extension???

Only on v briefly so will post properly later - I'm using the 4a flash too, but what i did was use the whole flash from this site first, then applied the newer flash. This way i got the flex I wanted plus the newer flash (although I'm thinking of trying the 45 version as my camera doesn't work sometimes with this flash).

I killed it.  I tried flash/flexing my phone with the flash/flex from the site, intending to put the 4AR version back over it.  It flashed successfully, but now the screen won't go on at all.  I can power on and off, and I can make and receive calls, but my LCD (inside and out) is black.  I'm thinking of just flashing the 4AR over it now...I can't really ruin it any more.  I'll let you all know what happens.

Let me know if you guys have any ideas.

Thank god I have an unlocked Nokia 6200(an AT&T refugee) that I can use...

There weren't any error messages or anything was there when performing the combined flash/flex?

It's late here so I'll sleep on it and see if I can think of anything, but let us know how the reflash goes

It's working again.  I flashed the 4AR over the site flash/flex, and I powered on and the screen lit up normally.  I don't know what the problem was.  Maybe flashing an old flash over a newer one (ie.  4AR to 1DR)?  I've read that 55R CANNOT be flashed to any earlier versions, but I haven't read what happens when you do.  I guess 4AR could be similar to that.  If anyone else has had similar problems I'd love to know.

The one thing I did notice was that dyring most flashes, the inner screen of my phone says something like "installing new S/W blah blah" in white letters on a black background.  But when flashing from 1DR to 4AR the inner LCD became blank.

I like my phone SSSOOOOOO much better with the new flex.  I did have to download a new MPT driver, because my v400 is now a v600.  I also have to get the correct [US] WAP settings.  Small price to pay.  I love it.

Thanks.

It stands for Line 2 (well actually technically Line 1, but means you've got the option of having Line 2 enabled, and would show the icon but with a 2 next to it when on the other line), which, according to the advertising blurb on Orange, "is Orange's way of letting you keep two types of call separate. It's like having two phones in one, with separate numbers and bills. It's great for keeping your work and personal calls separate, and there are other advantages."

So basically it's like having a second line for your mobile phone.

I've no idea if Voda etc support Line 2, but chances are most users won't use it or know of it.

It's fairly easy to get rid of the icon, go to the Useful Motorola Tools (http://www.mob453.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=446) thread and download the Motorola Tool program. This will allow you to edit certain files (seems) on your phone to remove the icon/disable it.

Let me know if you want a more detailed explaination as there's a bit more to it than that, however I'm off to bed now so will post more info in the morning if required!

Great news! Thumbup

Yup 55R can't be flashed with lower versions of flash because I believe it changes something in the bootloader. However, with the very latest flash/flex which is for the V620, it looks like both 55R and 4A, 45R and lower versions can all upgrade to this version. It's not done using the method in the guide though, so would involve a diferent process. I'll try it out and if it's not clear might put up another guide.

well, im sure u know tat combi of GI9V6000000A0E9 and 4AR does not store inbox in the phone but sim rite? i manage to use the seem guide to change the inbox storing in the sim to the phone ^^

not just that, before i flex/flash to the current ver. i use the combi of what u have on urs( i know it from reading the whole forum). Razz but i found out that the multimedia space of ur combi just accept up to 5446kb capacity. for my mobile, im not sure bout urs.. but when i flex/flash to my current ver. my multimedia capacity increase to 6036kb which is very good indeed ^^ i can store more video file in my phone now, i just hope they will produce a better ver of the flex and flash which can store up to 10 or 20 MB space... heheheh   Razz

hmm about the v620, i've heard bout it in the howardforum, its just release in the state isnt it ?and i saw the model, its almost the same with the v600, nothing much diff...  Confused about the phone feature, i have absolutely no idea... No idea what my space was, flexed it to the v620 flex today before I checked so will never know Sad It's gone flat now so I also can't check how much space I've got after this new firmware - but I know it might be even less than my old one! Might have to do some cleaning up! Laughing

It's a brand new phone available here now, rather than just the US, well...I say brand new, but it's basically a V600 upgraded to be able to record videos and has vibrate AND ring rather than vibrate THEN ring. Not sure if there's much difference otherwise, apart from different covers. Rolling Eyes It might have a slightly larger amount of memory, but I can't quite remember.

55R is just a new version of V600 flash as far as I know, although people can't downgrade from it once they've flashed with it.

4AR is a beta release, so it'll be buggy - perhaps this is one of them? Although I've not encountered this problem myself with the same flash version. Perhaps something wrong with flex?

Hmm, I'll have to think about this one...

What version flash/flex are you using? Have you tried reflashing it? It might be stuck in flashing mode which is why you can't get it to start up

I have tried multiple.

TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A1_LP0039_JPG_0B_TRIPLET_04_05R_SE6414AXXB10FD_1FF

TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A1_LP0039_JPG_0B_TRIPLET_04_05R_SE6467AXXB411C_1FF

TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4AR_reflash

TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.38R_reflash

The phone will start up, but only to a blank page with a few icons.  The keypad seems dead, too.  I have been reflashing all night.

Give the one on this site a try as I know that combo works, if it doesn't then at least we know it's not the combo of flash/flex you're using that's at fault.

What happens when you flash it? Does it find the phone ok? Or do you need to put it into bootloader mode?

So it starts up but you can't do anything once it's loaded up?

I tried the combo on this site first.  No luck...always fails on the Ram download.

I then flexed the phone, so now PST recognizes the phone as a v600.

Where can I find flash/flex for the v551?  Right now, I just want this nightmare to be over.

thanks

I think the V551 might have different hardware to the rest of the Vxx series, which might be why you're getting problems. I'm not 100% sure of that though.

I'll see if I can get any 551 flashes/flexes for you

http://chopsu3i.noc1.net/firmware/R376_G_0E.65.25R_SE6630AXXD8070_1FF.rar

(I thought that was V551 flash/flex, but it may be V620, but either way it should work better than V600 versions!)

See if that works! I think the V551 is different hardware (not triplets phone?) which is why the flash/flexes for the V600 etc do not work.

Let us know how it goes

It would appear that it was already known that the firmware you suggested would leave a dead phone.

Yep none of the triplets flash files will work with the V551, it uses a different bootloader and the phone is substantially different, IE - video capture and slightly different keypad.

Dead phone if you have a triplets phone like a V525 or V600, it's more than likely you did something to the boot section with the triplets flashes you originally tried rather than the above flash

Originally it was hoped that when the V620 flash/flex was released we'd be able to take video clips. However, as it turns out, flashing to the V620 unfortunately won't add video recording Sad I think the processor isn't powerful enough to support it, plus there's bits of different hardware in the phone.

It would be good if someone could find a way, but attempts so far have just killed people's phones Sad

However, since upgrading my flex to that of the V620, I've noticed the menus are a little faster and sound quality improved a little (but sound may be able to be improved in V600 via seem editing anyway). No other new features added though annoyingly  Mad

Have you tried forcing it to load in bootloader mode? Try powering own while  holding the * and # keys.

What flash file caused the problem?

« Reply #168 on: November 17, 2004, 11:27:29 AM »

the file i used to flash the phone was TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A_LP0039_JPG_0B_TRIP_0B_04.05R_SE6446AXXF10F8_1FF.shx
and i had problems with the camera so i used TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.45R_reflash.hmg during that istalation the phone crashed now when i load multiflash it reconizes the phone as S BLANK NEPTUNE LTE AND when i try to reflash it i get flash failed

PLEASE HELP!

Try flashing it again in bootloader mode as suggested by Dr No, took me 3 attempts to flash my phone last time, so maybe you need to do the same?

Yeah, keep trying, I've read on hofo that it's sometimes taken people up to 10 attempts to get the bootloader to work.

Since I received most of my flash/flex help from this forum I thought it only proper to provide some positive and hopefully helpful feedback.

Just to qualify this commentary, I am an engineer by schooling (computer/software major) but have not practiced in some time (went to executive management dark side), but I do have a pretty good grasp of programming, OS operation and the like. So although brand new to flash/flexing phones, I am not scared of a good software challenge.

O.K. on to the feedback... I first attempted to follow the Flash/Flex guide to the letter. My attempts failed miserably on Windows XP SP2 with a couple of SP2 compatiblity warning messages when installing PST many crashes when trying to Flex the phone. From feedback found on other forums I could actually find no one that has gotten PST to work on XP SP2. At my home we have two computers running XP SP2 and one running Windows 2000 Professional SP4 so I decided to drop back and use my daughters Windows 2000 machine...

I again followed the guide instructions and although PST_6.7_GENERAL and PST_6.7_Patch installed without error messages I continually got  the message "USB Port:0 Error:FLASH crashed! Please repeat the operation! Checking phone... " when flexing. So based on comments found on this forum instead of using PST_6.7_GENERAL as a starting point I used PST_6.9.2_GENERAL. And instead of using PST_6.7_Patch on PST_6.9.2_GENERAL (which some recommended but seemed a little brute force) I used the PST_uni_patch which seemed to go through a much more intelligent update and in fact seemed to systematically update every DLL file. It worked beautifully. I then followed the guide instructions using this 6.9.2 version of PST and the p2kman_pst pointed to by the manual (remember on the 2000 Pro SP4 machine).

I then flashed TRIPLETS_G_0B.9.4AR and flexed SE6452AXXP10F9 based on recommendations found on http://s87445123.onlinehome.us/triplets (to be more correct the second file above, although called a flex is actually flashed with Multiflashflex since it is an .shx file--since it is an .shx file that primarily affects the GUI then it referred to as a flex not flash).

In the end everything worked perfectly. I now have a phone that is free from one carrier's diabolical closed GUI and am free to browse as I please. I also like the generic icons and interface much better. Camera, SIM apps, Java apps everything running great.

Thanks very much for the feedback - one of the most useful posts we've had about it!

Glad you got there in the end, people seem to either glide through it or have problems all the way through depending on what mood the software is in! Laughing I still don't understand why my PhoneTools software works on some days and not others...Rolling Eyes

As a side point, I'm on XP SP2 and have flashed my phone without problems since the upgrade (flex was a little different although partially due to not taking the standard route with that and being a bit risky). However, I had the software installed already, so it'll be interesting to see what errors pop up when I need to install it on a new computer with SP2 already on it...Unsure

I might therefore upgrade the older files on the guide for the newer ones you used once I've gone through the process myself and get time, as you found them to be more compatible, so may also help other users in the same situation.

Got to say that although it's a bit scary and the process is annoying, the results are worth it when you get rid of all the operator stuff!

Thanks again for the informative post, don't hesitate to let us know of any other things you think of, as it'll hopefully benefit others. Smile

I've updated my flex to the V620 one, but it's not that version as far as I know - you sure that's the right one? Looks like an older one for the V600. My flex is now SE5109AXXXX056.

4AR is quite new but it's a beta flash so might not be 100% stable all of the time. Most people seem to get along with it fine though.

The most current release is 55R, if you use it, you wont be able to go back to any previous software versions because it has a new bootloader.

If you dont have any major issues with your current setup then I dont see any reason to change it.

There are no massive differences between 45R, 4AR and 55R. Just slight improvements in phone speed and the odd bug fix, you wont gain any new functionality.

Hope that helps.

4AR is newer than 45R as far as I am aware, and it's the version I'm running on mine for the time being!

Only thing to note is whilst 4AR is newer, it's also a beta so may come across some bugs, but it's been pretty stable on mine so far.

After I noticed that somebody mentioned that this works for V66s, too, I tried flashing/flexing as in the guide, and everything went well up until it finished "Creating image..." at which point it just spits out "Error: Flash Error" or something of that gist (wholesomely uninformative).

The thing is, this is an unlocked phone from T-Mobile. However, T-Mobile has those annoying, non-changable  T-Zones WAP settings, which are totally useless to me on Cingular. That was really my only goal in this affair.

Can anyone help me? Please? Very Happy

Does the phone still function fine after the attempted flash?

They may have been referring to the whole process (ie instructions etc are the same), but rather unclearly, and not mentioned that you need different flash versions for different platforms of phones.

I'll see if I can dig out some links for you later

Ah! The 55R link was tucked away in another post....

55R Firmware Here (http://www.pjwstk.edu.pl/~s2955/flash/triplets_g_0b_09_55r_lang002f_full_flash_for_mss.zip).

You cant backup the firmware, but you can leave your sms messages, phone book etc, in tact by choosing not to perform a master clear when you come to flash the phone.

By the way you need to use the Motorola Service Software to flash with this file.

I have flashed my V500 to TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4AR and hoped to then flash it to the triplets_g_0b_09_55r but I don't have the VictorGSM (I think thats it) program so I am unable to do so. As for flexing I currently use the SE7404AXXB3139 version and was wondering if there was a newer version that I should use?

Thanks - Oliver.

Bear in mind that when you flash to 55r, you can't go back to any older versions - so if you decide you don't like it as much, you're stuck!

I'm busy at the  mo so just thought I'd post the most important info first and will post a proper answer in a bit!

If you do want to flash with 55R you need the motorola service software to do it.

And it's here (http://coma.fsb.hr/motorola/files/gsm.techno-schritte.de_motorola_16.9.04/gsm.techno-schritte.de/motorola/tools/MSS3.6.rar) if you're interested.

Your current flex, has that got Orange customisations all over it? If so I'd personally change it anyway to give me the sim free flex version.

As for new flexes, there's definitely newer ones out, but depends what you're after. You can upgrade to the V620 flex (doesn't add video recording though), but it takes up far more space on your phone than normal V600 flexes, or you can stick with a recent V600 flex.

BTW latest flash file for V600 is now TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4FR

You can get a new flex file with that too, but I've not put it on my phone yet so am not sure which version, it might be SE6452AXXP10F9 (should be the most recent one though)

Hello there!

Nice how-to! It did work great!

But I have a problem though. In my web profile, there are a lot of german 'providers' wich I can't delete.
Now I want to use T-mobile for MMS and GPRS, but there is only place for one webprofile. How can I delete those German profiles?

And another question, where can I download those new triplets and stuff?

Thanks in advance!

You need to download p2kman which is hosted on this site(i think. if not just search for it with google).

To delete websessions from the V600, start up P2Kman and locate the /a/WebSession file (at the bottom). Once deleted, restart your phone and the extra websessions should be gone!

Then you can use the motorola settings configurator (https://www.shopmotorola.ca/emea_new/registration.asp?pg=2&l=1&pm=9&c=&reg=69437#) to download the settings you want  Very Happy

As for...

The "Flex - setup" sounds very logical to me, but it only read *.hs-files...

Hi guys! I've read almost all of this topic.
Then I've tried to get these files to flash my v525:

PST_6.7_GENERAL.zip - 13.1MB
PST_6.7_Patch.zip - 2.03MB
p2kman_pst.zip - 170KB
a flash/flex file. I used TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A / SE6446AXXF10F8 - 11.2MB, which is both the flash and the flex file combined - note: version may vary if you use files from other resources.

So, I've got the first one without any problems;
the download for the second one doesn't work. I've searched
all the net with google and I wasn't able to find a single functioning link to
this file. Russia, Hungary, China, Germany, Spain (motclub)...
the third one doesn't work either but I was able to retrieve the file from another site;
the fourth one doesn't work.
same for all links to the last firmfare/flash files.

so, please, if someone has those files and a fast connection, could he/she send them to me?

thanks.
(I'm searching in particular for a firmware that has the ability to store more messages in the phone 'cause room for only 20 is definitely a bad thing  Mad )

I can confirm that they do work as I downloaded them myself about 30mins ago to upgrade my flash on my V600!

If you still can't download them, I can recommend hex editing your phone if you only want to add extra sms storage

If it really did crash mid way through the flash process then it's likely that your phone will be nothing more than a paperweight.

How many times have you attempted to start in boot mode? Sometimes it's taken people a few attempts(like 10+) to get it running.

What flash file did you use?

just the reply i wasn't hoping to hear ...   Sad

i used to software in the guide provided here ( from the first page in this thread )

i have tried the boot mode thing a few times, maybe more than ten, not too sure, i'll keep trying it though ... pray for a miracle

someone in a local cell service center told me that there is a way to force the flashing of the phone even with the phone off .

he said he never did it with a motorola phone however, but he did it with nokias before ..

what options do i have in terms of actually repairing the phone, purchasing a new circuit board or something like that ....

How about taking it to the service center and claiming that it's "suddenly stopped working"  Wink. Maybe they'll do a repair for you.

I have no other ideas really.

Hello sarampawilo, thanks for the comments and welcome to the forum! Smile I'm glad your flash went well as the first time it's quite scary!  Laughing There's a lot of information on here and it's hard to read through it all sometimes! But if you need to customise your phone, there's some really interesting things and bits of information people have contributed to help make your phone as close to what you want as it can!

Unlocking is currently priced as following:
(unfortunately we can't provide it for free as we get charged for the codes ourselves!)

1. Remote via. IMEI - £28.99 and about 10 days. You are given a code and just need to enter it to unlock your phone.

2. If you have a data cable, it's £22.99 and you just download a small program which you can use to unlock your phone. Should only take as long as getting the username and password and downloading the software.

All work worldwide too.

But whether you choose to use our service or not, welcome and thanks for your post! Enjoy your phone! Wink

Hi There,

Desperate to Flash/Flex my phone, however I am unable to unpack the RAR file you supplied it has CRC check errors in it, and the packed file doesn't unpack! Sad

Where can I download a Flex/Flash file for my V600? I have had a hunt on the net but alas no joy!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You using a download accelerator? If so, don't and only download it from the site linked to on the guide. That should sort your problem as I found the same two days ago! Laughing

If it still doesn't work post back here

You can't flash it, as it'll ruin your phone. You can flex it however but it doesn't add any of the extra features found on the V620 such as video recording etc.

If you're still interested there may be a link in this forum somewhere, otherwise I'll dig out a link for you a bit later

I've got it on my phone and am going to be flexing back to the normal V600 flex as the camera isn't quite as stable as normal, can't say I've noticed anything else - apart from less storage space and less space for text messages Sad

Upside is menus are very very slightly faster, and camera (when it works) is slightly better, but I'm hoping the new V600 flex will add all these.

Hi there, tried the download again, but alas it wouldn't work. However no fear, have found the exact same files on Shakarats Hideout website. http://www.shackrats-hideout.com/sdownload/index.php?cid=179

The notes are absolutely TOP NOTCH! And easy to follow through. I flashed and Flexed my phone and got rid of all the nasty T-Mobile settings.  Cool

However one small problem... I am (and don't laugh) a Virgin Mobile user  Embarassed , but my phone can no longer find the Virgin Mobile network. I cant remember the Network ID for Virgin Mobile UK. Also it defaults my HOME network as T-Mobile now. My phone still works fine, however I am getting charged more for my calls as I am not using Virgin!! Any ideas?

What I want to do is get rid of the T-Mobile "HOME" network and put Virgin back as the default HOME network. I thought that this info was on the SIM card... Am I wrong?  Confused

Cheers
Claud.

Virgin Mobile is the T-mobile network, you are being charged normal rates for using it. If the flex you've used does not allow personalised operator names, it will default to the name of the network you are currently connected to, T-mobile.

Virgin Mobile is a virtual network that buys airtime from T-mobile.

Thats great Virgin have confirmed this so now I dont mind, but for some strange reason when I register to the network it only allows me to make calls for up to an hour sometime a little more, and then I get "call failed". I have to reboot my phone again and re-register to the network again before I can make another call.

I used the following Flash/Flex combined file TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A_LP0039_JPG_0B_TRIP_0B_04.05R_SE6446AXXF10F8_1FF

Do you know if this particular file allows the personalised network name?

Cheers
Claud.

Me Again,

Not only was the network coming up as T-Mobile, but it was also dropping my calls! Anyway I have now installed a different Flash/Flex file...

TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A1_LP0039_JPG_0B_TRIPLET_04_05R_SE6414AXXB10FD_1FF.shx

Which is now working fine, however when I try to get the MMS setup up from Motorola Website (anyone can do this at this address https://secure.mouse2mobile.com/clients/hellomoto/default.asp ) I receive the Browser message, but when I put the pin in it says that it "exceeds the specified limit" and fails to install the MMS settings.

I have cleared my Web Sessions settings using P2KMan so I have no settings at all on the phone for Web Sessions...

The question is... Do I have to flash and flex the phone again or can I rectify this problem using P2KMan or similar editor. If this can be easily rectified then some instruction on how to do so would be very greatly appreciated!

I am a bit new to editing my phone settings, so any help would be useful.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Phil,

Very very helpful I have manually entered the GPRS and CSD settings  Very Happy , but I still cant send Picture Messages  Sad .

It was the Picture Messages browser message that gave me the problem. Infact after I manually entered the GPRS settings you posted, I tried using the Web GPRS setup on Virgin.com and that went through my phone with zero problems! So why doesn't Picture Messaging Setup go through? You dont by any chance know the settings for Picture Messages do you?

Thanks V.V.V.Much for your reply.  Cool
Great help.

Cheers

When you go into the Messages menu, press the top middle menu button (the 3 lines one), and select Inbox Setup, then MMS Message Setup, are there any settings selected in the Server Info bit at the bottom? This is where the MMS settings need to be selected (so you need the MMS settings in the web sessions bit). If you've got one in there it may need deleting, otherwise, try putting these settings in the web sessions bit and then selecting them in the MMS Message Setup menu found as above:

Name: Picture Message
IP Address: 193.030.166.001
Username: user
Password: [blank]
Homepage Name: Virgin Mobile Messaging
Server Address: http://mms.virginmobile.co.uk:8002

ok guys, now all the links work properly, so I've got all the stuff...
but when I install the pst general with the exe, and choose to restart the
computer later, the program tries to update something but can't
because the language of the update is different from the one in my computer
(well it's not my fault if I'm italian Mad ). Then the application doesn't respond
anymore, but in my desktop there is the icon to run the program.
Can I say that the installation was successful? I use xp, and maybe this is
the part in the guide (the patches) that I can skip...I think.
Please confirm this because before trying to flash/flex my v525 I want to be
sure that everything has been installed properly.

Eep, I accidnetly posted a new topic instead of hitting reply. ;_; sorry about that.

anyways I successfuly flex/flashed the phone according to your guide but now I cant see my provider, T-Mobile, any more. The only networks I see are Cingular and ATT.

When I go to the network settings and tell it to view avalable networks it only shows Cingualr and ATT, yet in My Network List I have over 20 entries for T-Mobile. So I'm abit worried at this point about using my phone, becuase if it really is connected to a non-t-mobile network should get charged an arm and a leg right?

Any help on solving this problem would be great apprieated, that is if I can fix this.

ok, flashed and flexed perfectly.

now, 3 little questions:

1) I can play videos but I can't record them. Is it normal?
2) Where can I see that I'm using even the phone memory to
store sms?
3) Is there a way to delete the 4 icons in the main menù so I can
enjoy the background image?

The V600 has video playback only.
2) Where can I see that I'm using even the phone memory to
store sms?

With the flex you used all sms messages are saved to the phone by default. If it saved on the sim, you'd only have space for about 20 messages. You'll know it's being stored on the phone when it hits that mark and the storage meter is still on 1 or 2 bars.

3) Is there a way to delete the 4 icons in the main menù so I can
enjoy the background image?

Settings -> personalize -> Home screen -> home keys -> hide

Yeah I did use the one from this site. Someone pointed out to me though that  in certain areas T-Mobile doesnt have their own towers so they use Cingular as well. Which to some degree makes sense to me becuase I dont recall seeing T-Mobile in this area untill a few years ago. Its been pretty much all ATT/Cingular or Verizon, also when I think about it, doing a network search before only turned up ATT and Cingular networks before Flex/Flashing the phone.

Other than this problem, the phone works better than ever now. Maybe I'm just delusional but I can swear the sound quality has gotten better on here.

After fiddling with my handset I've also noticed louder and possibly clearer sound, so chances are you may not be imagining it either! Very Happy

If you want to double-check the T-Mobile thing (it wouldn't surprise me if they are borrowing other towers), try checking the coverage in your area:

T-Mobile Coverage Checker (http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/?class=coverage)

Although I wouldn't take that as gospel, but may be of some use Thumbup

Over here in the UK, the network "Virgin" is sometime displayed as a different network as it does a similar thing.

In theory you shouldn't actually be allowed to join another network if you're not part of them (like I couldn't just change over to the Orange, O2, or T-Mobile networks from my current Vodafone network), as then there'd be no point choosing one provider over the other. So T-Mobile must have an agreement to use another network's coverage when they are lacking in that particular area.

Unfortunately flexing will not unlock it (in fact, if you use a branded flex on an unlocked phone, there is a risk you may actually end up locking your phone).

Also most flexes listed on this site won't work for the V551, so be very careful before trying anything on it incase you end up with a dead phone! As far as I know there aren't any V551 flexes out at the moment Sad

Aleco, (especially) DrNo and all others posting useful info.

I read almost the entire forum FIRST.  Then collected the files including 4FR flash from http://v600.cjb.net/.  Flashed/Flexed as per Aleco's guide. It worked fine, but got the blank screen (no panick as I read to half expect that)
I Reflashed with 4fr and everything is perfect.  I am in US but have brand new unlocked vodafone version v525.  So it is awsome to get rid of the branding and have full access.  So far everything seems to work fine.

My Setup is (Windows Xp (NOT Sp2), V525 Phone, Files and such from this thread)
Only thing I can add of useful advice (as I am new to this) is...
I think if you read the threads completely and locate issues you may encounter, success without the panick will result. Or at least much better chance.

You people are the BEST. Thanks!!!!!
Great Guide

OK I found a small "issue".

After flex/fles via knowledge from this thread I have the following:

My language file is 003 which is good.
When I type SMS it seems to be predicting words in some other language, including accent characters.
Pretty Funny.  Everything else is fine.
 Question
I dont know how to make it English for the predictive text.

Any info anybody?

Thanks!!!!!
Great Guide

Very Happy Thanks very much, glad you found it to be of use! Good to see you'd read up on it beforehand too as it really does help prepare you for any unexpected outcomes, especially as you can end up with a dead phone if you're not careful!

Does 4FR seem ok? Going to change my V600 to it when I get time, currently have the V620 flex on but there's some annoying issues I can't really be bothered to put up with (less sms space and camera problems randomly).

Hmm sounds a bit odd! I've actually misplaced my V600 at the mo, will post back again once I've found it!  Embarassed

Aleco,
The 4FR seems fine so far. I just got this phone and have not really started using it heavy yet. But as far as I can tell it works great.
Blue tooth, camera, phone, SMS all verified.  I did not try any web stuff as this is a prepaid card (which does not have web access)  until tomorrow when I should get regular Tmobile service SIM.

Thanks Again. If you find anything...hope to see it.

DrNO

Thanks!  Little embarrasing.
I learned how to flash or flex the phone before I learned how to use it.  The text was set for automatic, setting to english works as expected.
Maybe I should spend some time reading the manual haha.

Thanks Again

One of the selections on the 032 Seem is to decide whether to store the SMS on Phone or SIM.....

Does that have any affect on how many will be saved?

I did ensure after flexing/flashing that my seem, (032) has SMS Storage set to phone and I then sent 15 or so SMSes to the phone to ensure more then 10 (as that seems to be the limit I see complained about).

Yeah, saving to the phone is the best option by a million miles. SIM storage holds about 20 messages where as the phone can obviously cope with far more.

Hi Beemer,

If you still havn't resolved this, I had the same problem... this is how I sorted it on my V600...

When creating a new message press menu -> Entry setup -> Primary Setup -> select the iTAP language here, do the same for secondary. I have secodary setup as Italian (as I send texts to Italy also).

This sorted out the overall iTAP (predictive text) language for me. Hope this helps.

Regards
Claud.

DID YOU KNOW... You can also post to forums using your GPRS phone on http://wap.mob453.com

I had an error something like that on my friend's V80 I flashed .... check if the cable is fully plugged in (might sound obvious... but hey you never know lol Wink ) .... then try running windows 2000/NT compatibility mode for the flashing software... hope that helps in some way...

i must be retarded cuz it still duzn't work, i tried reinstalling the program and i got errors with the patches or something saying that it's only compatible with computers without service packs installed, so do i have to get rid of service pack two? and how do i know if it's running in windows nt/2000 compatibility mode?

well you now have 2 choices

1. upgrade PST to to 7.1.1 for SP2 compatibility .... although you shoudn't have to do that ...cuz I'm running 6.7 on xp home with sp2 on ma laptop ... works me for me ... but now I just got hold of a spare computer and loaded windows 2000 on it ... I use that computer for anything cell phone related now lol no ... no crashes ahh trusty windows 2000  Laughing

or

2. run the flash or flex program in windows 2000/NT compatibility mode.

Heres how ....

find the flash or flexing application you want to use ... and right click on it ... go to properties and you'll get the properties box ... if you can a tab that reads "Compatibility" ... click on that tab... you should see a check box that reads "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" put a tick in that box to unlock the drop down list and select the OS you want to emulate when you execute the flash program..... choose either NT, 98/ME or 2000 don't bother with 95 or the flash software will just go crazy and randomly crash....

if neither of those work for you .... then I would recommend in you gettin' hold of an old computer and firing it up with a copy windows 2000 .... you can get a copy off me if need be (mine is them OEM version)... Evil or Very Mad

aiight goodluck!! Very Happy

Peace....

I'm guessing the ftp was ftp://venus.rontel.ru/pub/mobile/motorola/firmware/v80/ ? They should all be compatible with the V80, but I don't know of any other places hosting the files at the moment. There must be others, so I'll see if I can find any later on.

Yeah you need the monster flash / flex file from that ftp site:

R37_G_0E.03.34R_LP0016_DRM0001_JPG_0E_V80_02_02_09R_GSFV80xT672CW076_1FF.shx

I just had a quick read on HowardForums and it seems that flashing with the 34R firmware and then applying the flex afterwards has screwed many other peoples V80's over.

Hi.

I have successfully unbranded my v600 with the instructions from http://www.mob453.com/phones/motorola_v600/

The problem is the following:
I had a Sony Ericsson T610, also unlocked and unbranded.
It always showed 2 lines: one was the operator´s name and the other was the city or homezone. For example, when I was in Italy, it showed: 1st line: I TIM (operator), 2nd line: ROMA (the city).

Well, now it keeps showing only the operator´s name (maybe from the SIM?)

I would like to know if it´s possible to configure or flash somehow my v600 to the same display as the T610.

Thank you,
Romulo

So far, this flex is just a VERY basic flex, no ringtones, no nothing. I think this is even faster then the v620 flex. 7.3 megs free. More to follow in a few hours.

it's a v3 flex that will work on the v600

I discovered this forum last night, and have been reading through it with great interest (as, apparently, have many).

That said, I have one particular question.

My V600 has, from day one, had a strange issue with the camera, where the center of any pictures taken are in sharp focus - but out towards the edges and corners, the image falls out of focus, with the corners worst of all.

Is this a software issue that will likely be cured, or is it more likely a lens issue, as I'd thought it might be?

Thanks much for all the info, and for any pointers.

Hello synchros, welcome to the forum!

My V600 does the same, there's only a small area that actually looks sharp - rest looks like it's got something on the lens as it's all blurry, or as if it's more pixelated.

After trying out many different flashes and flexes I'd have to come to the conclusion that unfortunately it's down to the hardware of the camera rather than the software Sad

Looks like we're stuck with it unfortunately! Thumbdown

Yeah it's been an issue from the start. In fact most pics I've seen from moto cameras seem to have this bluryness around the edges.

Well, that answers it for me. I figured as much, since my wife's phone and my phone arrived at the same time, and her handset does not exhibit the same defect. I'll be sending it back for warranty repair/replacement then!

They do have a 1-year warranty on the handset, and I've had mine since July 2004.

Perhaps a bit of flash/flex experimentation with my v600 is in order, since I have a bit less to lose... Smile

Thanks again!

This is my first post on this forum, but not the first time I have been here! I would just want to thank everyone who has helped others on this forum! You guys are wonderful! You guys actually saved my v600!

Last week I bought a phone off of Ebay for a very reasonable price! Very good condition! The problem started when I recieved the phone and put in my sim card! Sim card was fine! Just when I tried making a call I could not hear anyone and they could not hear me! I tried all different settings to no avail! I e-mailed the seller and he said the phone was working before he sent it to me! I asked him did he do anything to the phone before he sent it! The seller said all he did was master reset and master clear! I also did that when nothing seemed to work.  So I brought the phone into a local cell phone service nearby for them to look at it. At first diagnosis they said probably the speakers were shot, they said come back in a couple of days! I did they told me then it was not a hardware problem, but software! I asked could they fix it, they said that they would not touch it because it was modified? So I asked what type of modification, they answered flex, so I went home did a search for flash/flex v600! This forum came up. I was about to just ask the seller to refund the money, but I read that the phone was as is!!! So basically I was stuck! So I said I have nothing to lose! Went out and bought the data cable! Follwed the instructions! I am running windows xp sp2. Followed everything to the letter! Flashed it and flexed it! WOW!!! The phone was more responsive and I had sound again!!!! I tried to make a call and everything was working!!!!

Thank you all for your help!! Thank you for making this guide!!! You have saved my phone!!

Well I did some reading thanks to this site for the information. And managed to get what I needed to flash, flex my v600 phone. And now it seems to work just fine. No more locking up (as of yet) & shutting itself of etc.

My old original from the factory stuff:
Firmware       TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.2DR
Flex version   GS9V600AWST0NA0F7

What I upgraded it to:
Firmware       TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4FR
Flex version   GI9V600000AA0E9

PS- my phone is not unlocked & with that flex (in the USA at least) I get no Phone Subsidy-Locked error messages. Wink

Just flexed my V600 with the V3RAZR flex, and indeed, it is indeed pretty barebones - camera works but phone locks up in camera mode if I try to take a picture (switches to 'save', and camera continues to function, but can't get out of that mode without pulling the battery).

There is precious little that can be done with regards to ring style, a 'feature' to which horus.ra alluded in his post about it. No doubt about it though, it does leave one with a distinctly higher percentage of free space. I think I'll switch back to a slightly  more full-featured flex. With the several options out there, which is the recommended flash/flex combo for a native V600 (likely a locked ATT Wireless unit, as that's from where I received it).

Thanks again very much to all for your help!

motokit (http://www.kempsun.com/Motokit/motokit106.exe)

the above link is an application that lets you rip flexs apart and create your own.

smartmoto (http://www.smart-clip.com/dl_user.php?id=smartmoto)

this link is a program that can read everything on your phone, backup your flash and flex, and emulates pst.

Hello dragonintl!

Thanks very much for your post and letting us know your experience! Always nice to hear a thank you and know that our guide has assisted you in some way! I'm really pleased you managed to get your phone working again too, usually people end up doing it the opposite way round and break a perfectly working phone into a dead one!  Laughing

Keep an eye on the forums, there's loads you can do with your phone via editing, and new files are coming out every so often! Just post if you have any other questions too, we'll do our best to assist!  Smile

btw I went ahead and took the plunge now the phone has the
TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.58R & I was still able to put the GI9V600000AA0E9 flex on it. It seems to work fine so far. The web browsers a bit diffrent but still nice. Only querk is the IM thing wont connect to yamigo now Sad. Thats not cool but I can still get AOL through mMode.

hey I found something useful maybe some of you know this & some may not but you know that "flex Error:Phone Subsidy-Locked" you get if your phone is not unlocked after flash/flexing ?
Well,
Just use P2kman and delete the a/mobile/system/secure_pds_init file.
After that it will not show up again. Also delete the greeting msg "flex Error:Phone Subsidy-Locked" I tried this and it worked for my current config no problem  Very Happy
Like I said most of you might know this already. But I didnt know squat about a week ago & feel that what little I have learned I should share for people like me Wink

I'd posted it a while ago about how to remove subsidy-locked error (http://www.mob453.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=310&start=16#1894), but no-one ever said if it worked or not! Sad Probably because it's in a random topic actually with no much info on unlocking...  Embarassed

Thanks for the post and info - keep them coming! Should hopefully help out a lot of our forum members in the same situation as you! In fact, it might be worth our while to put it into a more obvious sticky somewhere too.

Definitely useful to know! There won't be many people at all who will know how to remove that error message, so should prove useful to them now. Was it as straightforward as it sounds to do? My V600 is unlocked so I've never been able to try it out, might be worth sticking it into the flashing guide page too.

^ Yeah it was straight forward & easy to do. I read it on some other fourm while looking up info about it. I try using the search feature on the boards I am on. That seems to be a good resource to use first Smile. But I found this buy using a google or something. First time I did it (deleted the file) it looked like it didn’t work & I was pissed.lol the post I read said nothing about deleting the msg greeting also. So that still being there I thought it didn’t work. Then I thought for a moment & went & deleted that greeting & viola Smile.

btw this fourm has been a good resource of info also.

I forgot to say that the flex also had some java games in it. They were Stuntman,Supreme Snowboarding, Monopoly & Prince of Persia.
Not bad games I guess.
I also added eMSN, IM+Trial, Webviewer,TBlocks,Monkey Madness,SmashMeleeDemo,Tronix,Duke Nukem & GhostForce.

so far I have
3636Kb free
1365 Used
Not bad for having all those games, with also one video, added wallpaper images, few mp3 ringtones, & custom screen saver.

have used these ring tones previously on this phone, so I know that they are compatible, its strange because if I go my items > sounds > play, the ringtones play, then I set them as ring tone and when I ring the phone it vibrates but no sound.  When I go inot settings . ring styles > and then detail the phone goes back to settings menu - think the software may be corrupted - somehow?

not sure about what flexes can be used with the V525 without leaving you with a dead phone .... check with aleco or horus.ra they'll probably know.

V525 current flex SE7406AXXB50BA

Ok, Qwerty, does it have to be a v525 flex, and what version is your wife using?

A v525 can use flexs from a v600, v300, v400, v500, v620

May 18 2004 V500 Flex, Vodafone UK PRE-PAY **MAY lock your phone to this network**  SE7411AXXB50BA

May 18 2004 V500 Flex, Vodafone UK POST-PAY **MAY lock your phone to this network**  SE7406AXXB50BA

Are you in the UK, the above files might be worth trying.

edit: whoops, just realised, bottom flex is what you are using, it's really old

this v600 flex (http://s87445123.onlinehome.us/triplets/SE6452AXXP10F9_V600_ME0/SE6452AXXP10F9_V600_ME0.rar) will do the job fine

Though if you want to do this, you are more than welcome:

TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.58R w/ SE7400AXXXX1C9 Flex (http://s87445123.onlinehome.us/triplets/TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.58R_LP0039_JPJAVA_G_0B_TRIPLET_08_01R_SE7400AXXXX1C9_1FF/TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.58R_LP0039_JPJAVA_G_0B_TRIPLET_08_01R_SE7400AXXXX1C9_1FF.rar)
WARNING: Do not use this firmware unless you are fully aware of the ramifications.
This is basically a monster pack that includes an updated firmware to the 55R, as well as an unbranded V500 flex. But the characteristics of the individual flexes don't make too much of an impact anymore since most "features" of flexes can be altered via seem editing anyway. The 58R firmware fixes some miscellaneous bugs that were in the 55R firmware (mainly to do with the browser). I am actually currently using this firmware and will be posting it up for download along with the older 55R firmware (for those who don't want to lose their current flex and settings) since I find no serious issues with it. However, like what was said for the 55R firmware, this is an enhancement to the new line of firmwares, which have a bootloader that isn't backwards compatible with any of the older firmwares (58R can revert back to 55R but nothing earlier), so if you're worried about warranties or just flexibility in general, that all goes out the door with this firmware. Again, I offer no support so you are on your own. Be sure to read the description for the 55R firmware as well. The flex included in this monster pack includes the following java games: Stuntman, Supreme Snowboarding, Monopoly, and Prince of Persia. The language pack is 0039. This is a .vf3 file, so you will be using MSS to do the flashing.

Wifes phone not handy at the mo, not bothered what flex - quite fancied trying V600 - flash / flex but dont want a dead phone?  Phone has been unlocked so the ideal flex/flash would leave  it unlocked?

Hmmm, V620 wots the difference between V600 / V620 ?

ok, bit the bullet and flash flexed, using the firmware from your guide.  now got a V500, that thinks its a V600.  But has not resolved the issue with the ringtones??

Tried Sombrero ringtone which comes with phone and everything is ok, but any other ringtones I have added -  (used all the ringtones before and they where ok so I know they are compatible) still do not sound when phone is ringing ???????

I've been continuing to follow this thread, after flashing my ATTWS V600 to TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.45R and initially flexing my phone to the V3RAZR flex (light, but VERY barebones), I flexed my V600 to the more fully-featured GI9V600000AA0E9.

It's behaved well and not only crashes less, it gives me more than 6MB free space - far more than the stock. I mainly use this phone simply as just a phone, using the camera, a couple MP3 Ringtones, speakerphone and bluetooth features. I don't surf the web with it, don't outbound text (much), play games, videos, motomix, etc.

I've found that with the GI9V600000AA0E9 flex, the bluetooth works less well. I can get the headset to associate with the phone when it first discovers it, but it won't connect thereafter, until I delete it and re-discover it.

I'd like to flex my V600 to maximize those features I use - but I'd like them to all work! Any recommendations of a flex (or flash/flex combo) that would accomplish this? It can certainly have more features, which I can remove with the motokit program (now that I have it speaking my language)...

Also, any reason to *not* go with the 58R flash? I know that one can't back-rev beyone 55R, but what would I lose by going to that newer (and presumably better - though I know, not necessarily) flash?

Thanks for any and all input!

Hi, I tried the guide to flash/flex my phone and everything seemed to have worked fine, but when I turned my phone on after disconnecting it it doesn't turn on the screen, either internal or external. The phone works to make and receive calls and I can even hear the little music when turning on or off but nothing on the screen. Does anybody have any clue what the problem is and how to fix it?
Thanks

Hi guys, I've been following this forum since I have a newly flash/flex v600. It was a v525 from vodafone, I bought it in the US and was using it in Canada with Fido, the thing is that I wanted to remove the vodafone live and make the menus a little faster so I followed the guide and flashed my phone to a v600 and flexed it with E9 (I'm new to all this) and now the phone works faster and is more responsive but I have a problem, neither the internal nor the external LCD screens will work. They are off as if the phone was off but it isn't, I can make calls and receive them but the screens won't work. You know, it is a little bit difficult to use it without being able to see anything on the screen. Any idea where I went wrong, or how to fix this thing? Thank you very much guys

Hi I found this page on google, I got my phone unlocked in my local market, but my screen broke so I  had to send it for repar, and they updated the software, so It went back to being locked to T mobile again, I dont know how to unlock it myself9i cant afford to go to market again) after hours of searching I found this UniMoto, but It asks for a username and password so Im confused, do I need register and or/pay somewhere.

Also is it possible to get rid of the T Mobile screensavers locked into the memory, I want a plain phone with no company mp3s or logos screensavers etc, I have a USB data cable. thanks.

Hello...

I recently bought a motorola v600 and subscribed to this great community.

I have an unlocked phone from vodafone, activated in a company that has nothing to do with vodafone.

The characteristics of my phone are:

FLEX = SE6416AXXF413B
SOFT = TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.38R_V
SW DSP = 62D5C500
LANGUAGE LIST = 0039

My questions are...

Is it convenient to flex/flash it?

Will I find any advantage (despite the fact that the vodafone locked features will be gone) by doing this?

Will any of the inner features of the phone be enhanced in some way? (ie: more memory, better icons, hidden capacitites, etc.)

I'm a little bit doubtful about doing this, and that will change if any of you assures me that flexing/flashing the phone IS the thing to do.

Also, in case you say yes, I'm a little confused, too, because of the many differents types of flex and soft versions.

Damn! This got too long.... sorry about that, folks.

Regards....

Hi,

I just flashed my V600 following your guide, but now, it immediatly turns off after turning on (the keys and screen backlight go on, but half a second later the phone dies). Any ideas on how to fix this? MultiFlashFlex said it was a successful flash.

Hello everybody, thank you all for this usefull forum, I'd like ask you which Firmware and Flex versions would you recomend to upgrade my original V300 to V600 (or V620???).

Links to your recommended files will be appreciated. After all this time, there must be consensus in which FW and flex are the most smooth versions.

Thank you very much in advance experts!!!

Hi,

I was recently searching through my phone menu when i came to an option under the 'Java Settings menu' that said 'Delete All Apps' now seeing as i dont usually play games i clicked on this expecting it to delete my games - which it did but at the same time the program on my phone "imelody" ceased to work (i got an error claiming that memory was full - i still had over 3mb free on my phone) - I therfore gatherd that "Delete All Apps" wiped ALL java Applications (i know - should have thought of it before)
Is there a way to regain this function of my phone without flashing the phone? or is this nessacery? If it is what flex version do i need?
Cheers

information for my phone is as follows
Brand: Motorola
Make: V600
Flex Version: GS9V600T671TA13C
S/W Version: TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.38R

Hi there,
I've stumbled across this forum couple of months ago, and you have no idea how thankful I am! Through reading this forum extensively I have been able to do the following:

1. Flash and flexed my Orange branded RAZR V3 to an unbranded version, following instructions on the flash/flex guide.

2. Flashed and flexed my vodafone branded v525 to v600!

3. And just a minute ago I found out how to remove the Flex error: phone subsidy lock msg w/o unlocking the phone!

Thank you so much for all the info this place provides! Smile

First of all, I want to say thank you for the excellent guide and all the resources you post here.  Very helpful.

Question,

I have flexed and flashed my phone, I flashed with 4FR and my Flex file is GI9V600000AA0E9.hs.  What happened after I Flexed is that holding 1 no longer takes me to voicemail.  How can I set it back to do that?

I also have the GPRS instead of date problem, but I am working through the instructions for seem editors and stuff.  Hopefully I can figure this part out on my own.

Thanks again for all the great info.

Mohannad

You can use the seem editing tools (found in the Useful Motorola Tools thread sticked at the top of this forum) to get 1 for voicemail working again Thumbup Have a look through the forum and post back here if there's no instructions for it or you're not sure of the process.

The GPRS/date problem is also in there too as you seem to know - but it's soo much easier using the tool in the stickied thread! Just a click of a button or two to enable/disable features!

Hi, I'm not sure if I'm [a] being a bit dim,  have missed something or [c] totally screwed! but . . .

Have attempted to flash my V600, all appears to go well, PST reports flash sucessful, and during the flash I have a "software upgrade in progess" screen on the phone. However, at best I get a momentary "hellomoto" screen then nothing, at worst the keypad lights for a second and then nothing.

I'm flashing with the TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.72R_LP0032_JPJAVA_G_0B_TRIPLET_04_05R_SE6424AXXT11D4_1FF.shx

file . . .

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks  John

School boy error! I  didn't make a note of the original versions! I'm trying to use the latest flash/flex pack as uploaded to this site last night.

Have tried 6 or seven times now, and the closest I get is with one of the other combined packs - when I get the "hellomoto" screen then nothing else.

Starting to think my phone is becomming a paperweight!

Thanks for the continued help!

John

If you had 55R or 58R on your phone beforehand, then you won't be able to use this version or upgrade/downgrade to any other version not from the 5x line of flashes, as they use a different bootloader - this might explain what you're unable to get it started.

If you think it could have been either of those two versions on previously, then unfortunately you'll just have to reflash with either 55r or 58r, and hopefully it'll work again.

I know the 72R stuff works as I'm running it fine, but I was on the 4x line of flashes which didn't have the new bootloader.

I would guess that is what the problem is, but I can't say for sure! It may be worth trying 4AR or 4FR before trying the 58R flashes in case they work, but it's probably unlikely - let us know how it goes! Smile

Thanks again, the 58R flash gives me the Hellomoto splash screen the nothing else, although the flash process does go through code groups 1,2,3,4 & 18 . . . Can you point me in the direction of a 55R file? John

Battery OK
OK to Program

Ooooh no no no..! I'm sure we had one user do that and kill their phone!

Have a search for a V220 flash/flex (or just for "V220") on this forum - you'll either find a file to flash with, and/or a post where another user did something similar and what happened

Just did a quick search of the forums, couldn't find the user I was thinking of - maybe it wasn't a V220 then!

It may not have overwritten the  bootloader in which case applying V220 firware (or compatible) onto it again will solve the problem for you. Hopefully this is the case, as I think the other user tried a lot more flashes/flexes which may have overwritten the bootloader!

Glad you got it working again!

You mustn't have overwritten the bootloader luckily (mainly due to the fact that the V600 firmware hosted on this site does not come with a new bootloader, so there's nothing to overwrite it). Had you tried 55R for the V600...you might've been in trouble! Laughing

You can use flash/flex files for other motos, but it must be of the same line. eg Moto V600 is a triplets phone, V3 isn't, so you can't use V3 flash on a V600. Same applies with the V220, even though it seems like it should! Laughing

What were you trying to get from flashing/flexing it? We may be able to offer you an alternative solution if it was not provided in the above SEV220NBBXXX_U firmware Smile

Well, one issue I have is that the flash I found that brought my phone back to life defaulted to Japanese(!), and even after flexing, my Categories (excepting VIP) are in Japanese.  Not that it's a big deal, but it's annoying.

Also, now I don't have any space on my phone to even take a picture.  I deleted some files, but still get the message that there is no space.  I guess I need to know which files I can delete and which ones I can't, or if there is something that makes my phone think it is full when it isn't.

Aleco , horus.ra please help I recently purchased a T-Mobile V600(brand new:O)  and followed the guide  I used the shx file mentioned in the guide, every thing ran smoothly when i restarted the phone and the Brand was removed, apparently everything functioned well , until i tried to start p2kman to remove all the needless "websessions". ! No Comunication via the USB cable! , tried the Mphonetools, no comunication, removed all software and drivers and reinstalled it all, No Luck. when i reinstalled the mpt it shows as a diffrent GUI instead of the v600 GUI, and no communication! Please HElp!

Ok, tried the "new" flex file posted on this forum thru the boot loader startup on the phone and it worked, I am now able to use MPT and p2kman with no probs, i would make a sudjestion to place the new flex file on the intial guide instead of that other shx file.

Only thing neg is that the new flex is slower than the original Brand sw and that shx in the guide.

I prefer slower and stable over faster and buggy LOL

The different GUI will be their default one when it can't find the phone - this happened to me with the new flash and flex when I updated the phone tools software! Sorted it out in the end by setting up bluetooth connection manually.

Anyway, I wonder what the problem was as I've never had any problems with that firmware and it's worked for lots of others, but I agree that maybe after a year of being up...it's time for a new version! Laughing At least flashing/flexing to the latest version solved your problems! Perhaps newer phones have slightly different hardware which causes the problem you've experienced?

I'm happy with this new firmware and it seems nice and stable (one of the main reasons I didn't update the guide's files beforehand as I didn't believe any were stable enough), so time for an update to the guide! Thumbup Thanks for the suggestion!

Nothing wrong with the aston martin flash and flex, but the flash is old and all the cool stuff is in the flex. So you will have to find a reflash if you want to have the latest flash with the aston martin flex

Everything required to flash and flex your phone is on that page - which model is it you're using?

A new flex will remove mMode from it and remove any branding put on by AT&T Thumbup

Oh, and which version of Windows are you using?

It's £17.99 to unlock Motos via cable at the moment, which is about $33.54 USD. Unfortunately the IMEI server is down at the moment, so we can't give you a code to unlock it. Cable unlocks are usually quicker though anyway.

Which flash/flex combo are you using at the moment?

I know if you remove certain ringtones it messes up quite a few other things that rely on them.

And you get this PST program from where?

I read the guide several times and it says use the program etc.. etc... but has no link and no sugesstion of where to get it.

I just wanted to flex my phone not play clue.

Which guide are you using/where from? There's some out there which have ripped our guide and made it worse. Our guide, which was the original, provides all files needed to flash/flex your phone.

you've read this guide v600 flashing guide (http://www.mob453.com/phones/motorola_v600/) several times and you still dont know where to get the programs from?

 Shocked  Shocked  Shocked
there's a little list there saying files what you need, if you click on them, you would start downloading these files to your pc.

though if you cant even work that out, I really would not suggest trying to flash your phone.

Yup that's the site that stole the guide and made it worse in the process!

The proper one is located at http://www.mob453.com/phones/motorola_v600/ - where you'll find ALL the files you need, and will explain why the links from their site point to ours... Wink

I've never come across that error yet, I'll have to try and look into it I'm afraid - only easy solution I can think of is to borrow someone else's computer for 30mins and do it on theirs!  Laughing I'll let you know if I find anything about that error

I had this same problem. This what I did.  Uninstall everything. Install everything as directed, but when you unzip p2kman_pst make sure you unzip this in it's own folder. I created a different folder inside  C:\Program Files\Motorola\PST\  named it p2kman and this is where I unzipped.  My problem bye bye.  Hope that works for you as well.  Let us know!

Oh I forgot to say, I flashed my v400 with the combo flash/flex aston martin, then reflashed it 45r. One word: Awesome! The reception is amazing! No dropped calls and in some places where I didn't have a signal, now I do! The only problem I've seen is when I roam my phone now says AT&T wireless, I don't subcribe to AT&T. I guess I'll know if I get charged when I get my bill since I made a call during that time.  THIS SITE RULES!

Thumbup

Great news! Thanks baazoookaaa for your very useful post! I might have to add that to a sticky somewhere to help others with the same problem Smile

There's quite a bit of interesting stuff you can do via hex editing too - might be worth a look to see if there's anything else you'd like to customise! (eg on mine I get the text message counter to count up rather than down!)

Someone else had that AT&T problem, but I think that might've just been down to a slightly older network name list in the phone - I'll have to have a look

I've just got a v525 and want to flash/flex it to remove the vodafone software. I also want to unlock it so i can use it on Orange.
What i want to know is will the flash/flex remove the simlock? and if not should i get it unlocked before flash/flexing it or vice-versa?
Any help is much appreciated Smile

It won't unlock it for you unfortunately.

Regarding the order in which to do it, it doesn't matter, but if you use a flex file which is branded it may relock the handset again, so maybe afterwards would be slightly safer. Although you'd have to put up with an error message when your phone is switched on until you unlock it.

« Reply #434 on: April 30, 2005, 02:38:26 PM »

I've tried a few and had the same issue with all of them, It works right after the flash, but then after turning the phone off and on, it stops working. The ones I've used are:

R364_G_0B.D1.32R_PDS003_LP0003_DRM0001_JPJAVA_G_0B_V220_01_03_63R_GSIV220CIN03NA103_1FF.shx
R365_G_0B.D2.2ER_PDS004_LP0003_DRM0001_JPJAVA_G_0B_V220_01_03_63R_GSIV220M0CIN04NA16D_1FF.shx
R365_G_0B.D2.23R_LP002E_DRM0001_JPJAVA_G_0B_V220_06_05_54R_SE8509BXXU1113_1FF.shx

It worked perfectly before the flashing, so there should be some way of fixing it.

Does anybody have a known-good file that I can try? I have an FTP you could use to get it to me, or you could Gmail it and not worry about bandwidth. It'd really help me out!

Don't suppose you know what flash and flex versions you had originally? I'm posting via wap and can't remember - the versions you tried, were they flash only or did they include the flex?

It's a well old combo, I wouldn't bother with it personally.

TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.1DR_A firmware is well over 1 year old and there have been plenty of updates since then fixing various bugs. SE6446AXXF10F8_1FF is a unbranded flex that leaves you with the usual locked pictures and ringtones. It does come with a bunch of German websessions that need to be removed if you want to add your own wap and mms settings.

It's an ok flex, it's been on my V600 for over a year, never had the need to change it really.

Try the newer version found on our flashing/flexing (http://www.mob453.com/phones/motorola_v600/) page - may or may not help, but it's a fair bit more recent.

Ok...I'm going to be flashing my V300 on Monday, and just want to go over a few things with the clever people  Laughing

I will be flashing with the 72R one, and hopefully that will work...My phone has all the T-Mobile branding and is locked, so has anyone else who has had the same phone as me managed to flash with this file with no problems?

I also know that the 72R monster pack has the same bootloader, so I will have no problems flashing with another flash/flex, ( i know about the 55R and 58R flashes, and I wont be using those  Smile). My question is, will I be able to flash back to my original flash/flex version, and if so, where/how can I get these files?

That's about it, thanks - any help is much appreciated  Thumbup

Tim.

Ok, just a quick question (please don't forget about my above post too!)...

When I said this:
My question is, will I be able to flash back to my original flash/flex version, and if so, where/how can I get these files?

Will this file be sufficient to flash it back (I found it on Motomodders.net ===> Downloads ===> Monster Packs... You have to be registered to see that page...

The file I am looking at is called:

V300 Branded T-Mobile UK PRE-PAY
V300
TRIPLETS_G_0B.08.A5R_A Flash
Language pack 0037
Java Pack 04 05R
Branded T-Mobile UK PRE-PAY Flex SE6535AXXB70FE TRIPLETS_G_0B.08.A5R_A_LP0037_JPG_0B_TRIPLET_04_05R_SE6535AXXB70FE_1FF
Both the flash and flex files listed there, match up with the ones I currently have on my phone...So will this be a sufficient back-up for my phone if anything goes drastically wrong (see above post if you don't know what I'm going to be attempting Wink)?

Again, Many Thanks,
Tim.

You might be able to back up your current flex - I've never tried it so can't comment on how well it works, but I think it's supposed to be able to do it. The name of the software escapes me at the mo, so I'll post it up in a bit.

The flash with 72R should be fine, but if it's locked you'll get an error message each time you switch the phone on. You can remove this - it's explained somewhere on these very forums Smile

I'll try and post links etc in a bit!

I know of a way to remove that message through SEEM editing - xlr8's guide I think...

Go to http://direct.motorola.com select your country and let the page load....then, you will see somewhere on the right, a link for "Operator Settings", click there, and follow the rest yourself...You have to give them your e-mail (hey don't send you anything) and then you get given the link...Just select what settings you want, what phone you have, what Network, and then provide them with your phone number...They will send you the settings via text message and it will self-install the settings you need Very Happy

I just upgraded my V300 to V600 firmware. I followed the instruction in the guide and Wallah. I have my phone as V600. Only thing that I notice is menu is much faster.

I still can't do video capture or have speaker on while dialing before the call gets picked up.  I am not sure weather it is supposed to do it.

Thanks for all the instruction.

Hello and welcome to mob453!

Thanks for letting us know - glad it was successful! Thumbup

Regarding video capture, it's not possible I'm afraid at the moment, and I'm not sure it ever will be due to the different hardware.

I never found a way to get speaker phone on before a call either, but am not sure whether a work-around was ever found for this Sad It was a bit annoying when I used it and spoilt the feature a bit too! Mad

Confused I was wondering if I flashed the V600 if, in fact, it will work using Cingulars software? And if not, then where would I go to get that put in my phone?
I have unlocked my Tmobile phone and need to switch it's software to Cingular.

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!

Thanx, Whiteauge.

Sorry if i'm missing the point, but why would you want a branded phone which will make your handset relocked to a network again over a brand-free version? Will Cingular not allow unbranded phones?

not sure if this was mentioned...may have been. When I start to flex my v600, I get an error message from Windows XP saying that the MultiFlashFlex has encountered a problem and has to close. Do I have to have any service packs installed to run this or will it work with just XP hotfixes?

Try using RSD Lite, instead of Multi Flash Flex

I am lost!

Just wanted to ask if the flashing and flexing guide for the v600 could work for the v220. I followed the guide as instructed, however a few "glitches" seemed to pop up. For instance after following steps 1-9 an error screen came up "cannot load the flash tool! Friendly named : flash prog"

I pressed "OK"  followed more of the steps 10-12 and entered "START"
Then recieved another error "the application is not initialized(flash tool / super file)

Help. and many thanks

Which firmware/files are you trying to get onto the V220? The process should be the same, but the flash/flex files won't be

As far as I know, there's still no way to enable video recording on the V600.

I can't get the WAP, Internet, MMS and E-Mail settings from the site that is provided in this tutorial:

http://www.mob453.com/phones/motorola_v600/

It says I should go to this site:

https://secure.mouse2mobile.com/clients/hellomoto/default.asp

But I get a message that I should register on www.hellomoto.com, but where?

Does somebody have the settings for Vodafone. I live in Holland and I use Vodafone, and I want to flash/flex my V525.

You should be able to set it up here:

https://www.shopmotorola.ca/emea_new/regiform.asp?pg=2&l=30&pm=9&chr=&reg=830099#

Just click the netwerk instellingen link.

Has anyone else had this problem or can help me with the problem?

Instead of the picture being automatically displayed when i recieve and mms, it comes up with something along the lines of a status screen i suppose it could best be described as, showing -

well for starters, when i have a list of msgs to select from, the right soft key doesnt say "read", rather it says "details"

then when i press "details" it basically shows me the msg status, being

From:
Subject:
Size:
Expires On:
Received:

Then my right soft key on this screen becomes "downld". pressing this doesnt do anything except say "downloading messages" and i never receive the pictures. The right soft key use to say "reply" from memory.

Anyone have any help on where i sit here, if i need to fix it, if this is common with the flash/flex, if theres something simple in my phone to change so it works or get back to its original form.

p.s. lost all my photos ion the the flash/flex which is a bummer. even more disappointing if i cant even receive mms now.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I just did the flashing/flexing guide and it works great, but I have 1 question;

How do I put costum ringtones, pictures and movies on my mobile phone? It doesn't work with P2K tools:

First it just connects...

Then nothing...

What do I use to connect to my phone and replace/copy pictures or sounds?

// Edit 1

Nevermind, I just set the COM Port to 4 instead of 3. It works now.

One last question; I can upload .mp3's to my phone and select them in Multimedia\Sounds\ folder, but I can't play them. It says there corrupted or something. I even set the .mp3 to 40kbps like the Sombrero.mp3 that was already on the phone. And it still doesn't work.

Now the hardware manager says there's a different driver installed: (because I can't select COM Ports anymore)

And now I get this error:

Is there another tool to connect and change/copy files on a V525 (flexed/flashed to V600)?

The V3 aint a triplets phone hence why it's buggered.

Have a search around the forum. There'll be links to a V3 monsterpack that you can try and flash with somewhere.

I read and re read the flashing Vxxx guide.  I have a V551 that stopped working (display) after about two weeks...anyway Moto said the software needed reflashing so I downloaded and followed the guide here and everything went fine ...flash successful message...etc.  (I am computer literate so I think I did everything correctly)  There were two patches that didn't load as XP said that they were older than the SP2 that already existed...I didn't have an option to load them because of that) Well, now my phone won't power up!  What do I do next?  The only thing that was even slightly different was that the PST detected what was displayed as a V547 instead of a V551.

HELP!

Ok did you use the flash files hosted on this site?

If so they are only meant to work with V600, 500, 300.

I don't think that the v551 is a triplets platform phone like the v600 is, therefore needs (or needed) different firmware files to be used with it.

Try and find some V551 firmware files, you might be able to revive it if you're lucky, although you'd need the computer to recognise it in order to do that in the first place... Unsure

Have you tried starting it in bootloader mode (hold the * and # button at the same time and switch it on)?

« Reply #503 on: June 26, 2006, 01:02:22 AM »

The */# thing didn't work on my v551.

Hello.  I'm new here.  I want to explain what I want to do.  I want to flash my Cingular v600 (now they are called AT&T wireless).  My v600 has a very old flash version.  It was one of the original flash versions I believe.  Mine says TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.2FR_A1.  My flex says GS9V600CIN02NA11C.  Now I read the guide for flashing and flexing the v600.

What are the consequences of flexing this phone?  Since the guide shows you how to flash and flex the phone together and you can't just flash or just flex.  What will I gain and what will I lose after flashing and flexing?  Also how do I backup my phonebook so I don't lose anything?  And how do I backup the flex and flash that I currently have in case something goes wrong and I want to go back?

Also I have read in this thread that if you had 45R flash you couldn't go to 72R (this is the version that the guide has) because of an old bootloader?  So what are the implications of this on my pre 45R flash (like I said I have TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.2FR_A1)?  Can I go directly to 72R?

I would greatly appreciate some help.  Thank you.
