Mobile Matters / Free Unlocking! / Re: Unlock Nokia 3230 by code

iirc the 3230 is a BB5 handset so can't be unlocked via a code calculator anyway.
Only the network that provided the handset will be able to get the unlock code for you. This option may also have been rendered unworkable to you now though if the wrong code has been put in too many times.
There also isn't any cable unlock solutions available either that I have heard of.

No because apart from supplying any details about network etc we cannot supply a free code as it's a paid for service unfortunately.
was the sim yours in the first place or did it come with the phone. has the sim been used/topped up? Have you contacted the network to ask why the sim is inactive. they will make them active again if you ask them to.
If none of the above is possible then I suspect this is a lost/stolen handset and no unlocking will solve that problem, it sounds like it is barred and won't work on any network. If you have used it for a while and now it's inactive I suggest you speak to said "Friend" and ask him where it came from.

Nokia will be doing Full OTA in the near future also but one thing to remember is neither Nokia, SE or any of the other manufacturers will be able to do full FW flashes OTA. this service is only for patches.
It's just simply not possible to do a complete flash OTA as the radio Stack, everything is shut down as it's upgraded.

Mobile Matters / Free Unlocking! / Re: Nokia 6630 locked to orange

Hi there
Currently the only way to get the 6630 unlocked is via the network that supplied the handset.
The 6630 along with the other newer series60 handsets are what we know as BB5 handsets. Although reports are filtering through that a solution has been developed outwith paying the network for the code it's not readily available to the general public or to unlockers such as ourselves.
There are no other solutions out there currently so your only way of doing this is to contact Orange to request the unlock code and paying for it.
Hope that helps clarifying the situation for you.

Hi all, We are proud to unveil The Nokia Software Updater, launched today. The Nokia Software Updater is a Windows application that enables you to update Nokia mobile device software (firmware) over the Internet using your PC. The application can be downloaded from the Nokia UK Product Support Internet pages at http://www.nokia.co.uk/softwareupdate The Nokia Software Updater offers the same updates you would receive at a Nokia Service Centre. The added advantage is the convenience, as you can now easily perform the update yourself from any location with an Internet connection, at a time suitable for you. Keep your phone software up-to-date, or fix a potential operation problem you may have by regularly updating your phone firmware. In the future, every new S60 product will be compatible with the Nokia Software Updater, but at the moment the application is only available for selected Nokia devices including Nokia 6630, Nokia 6680, Nokia 6681, Nokia 6682, Nokia N70 and Nokia N72. During the autumn, the application will be available in different languages on different web pages and many other products will also be available for software updates. The Nokia Software Updater has been made to be as customer-friendly as possible. All you need is a PC and the standard sales-pack data cable - no dongles, no adaptors, no fuss. A typical update takes around 30 minutes. Plus, you don’t need to wait for your device to be returned from Nokia Service Centre. http://discussions.nokia.co.uk/discussions/board/message?board.id=news &message.id=41

Mobile Matters / Free Unlocking! / Re: Any unlock solution for the nokia 6280 yet?
|
on: July 28, 2006, 08:02:42 PM

Yup. It's a BB5 handset the same as the S60 and many more in the future so the unlocking solution still isn't really there. We have only waited around 2yrs so far and by the looks of things it could be another two years unless a certain person stops sulking and throwing his dummy out of the pram so that more people kiss his ass and just release the damn thing that we know bloody works. /rant over

Tbh I don't have as much on my N70 these days compared to what I used to load up on my other S60 handsets.
You will struggle a bit at the mo though being S60 v3 as the software is still taking it's time to come through, and it's not very backwards compatible.
But what I do have is.
Profimail from lonelycatgames - better than the standard mail client as it handles HTML mail
Smartmovie from lonelycatgames - just for converting and watching my own stuff for watching on the phone
Opera - For web browsing
IM+ - for instant messaging
Mobizines - downloadable magazines for reading on the phone, uses flash light and is free apart from your own data costs(works on other java based handsets also)
Handy clock - for multiple and repeating alarms. It has a few other features also
FS Caller Pro from Rock your mobile - full screen caller
TomTom - satnav of course (rumoured to be at least 6 months away for youre handset though)
Shozu - upload pics from phone to flickr (and other blog type places I think)
Midnight 3D Pool - Pool game and one of the better one imo
Fexplorer - one of the best extended file managers around
Thats about it really. I would recommend each and every one. As I said I am more choosy these days rather than just chuck everything on the handset and not use half of it.

It's now available on 3pay for £220 but that shouldn't devalue the resale price on any other betwork as its about the same price to unlock it on 3.
Persoanlly I wqouldn't buy anything on 3 so I reckon if you get one aleco then you should get around £250
