FAQ and general information:

What does "mob453" mean?

mob453 isn't just a random collection of letters and numbers...it actually spells out "mobile" when you type it into your phone using predictive text! i.e. the 4 = i, the 5 = l, and 3 = e - try it yourself!

How do I know if my phone is compatible?

We offer a list of confirmed devices which support our ringtones, but you can also download a free test ringtone from our wap site at http://wap.mob453.com using your phone, which also allows you to check your wap settings are correctly set up.

How do I get my WAP/GPRS settings?

Just get in contact with your network provider who will be able to give you the settings. Don't forget your network provider may charge for accessing sites via WAP or for data costs via GPRS, so make sure you know this information before ordering.

What is WAP/GPRS anyway?

Both are methods of connecting your phone to the internet.
Think of WAP as 56k where you dial up with a modem and pay for the time your are connected. It's also rather slow.
GPRS is more akin to broadband, where you have faster speeds and just pay for any data transferred.

What if I have a problem ordering or with the ringtone?

Just visit our support page for further help and a member of our team will get in contact with you.

Will I be signed up to subscription services or receive unwanted SMS messages?

Absolutely NOT. mob453 takes a proud stand against offering subscription services, as many other companies often try and hide the fact they make you pay huge amounts of money unknowingly each week, or offer "free" ringtones but naughtily sign you up to their "club" which they use to charge you for ringtones you don't even want. We at mob453 think this is unfair and underhand, and would prefer to offer you the choice of whether to purchase from our site in the future, rather than forcing you to whether you want to or not!!
With mob453, one order = one ringtone and no unwanted spam. It's as simple as that :-) Your number will never be passed/sold on to anyone else, and we will not accept money to allow other companies to message you.
If you are receiving unwanted messages, you can find out who is sending them by visiting http://www.icstis.org.uk/. ICSTIS is the Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of the Telephone Information Services, i.e. the industry-funded regulatory body for all premium rate charged telecommunications services.

Can I have a refund?

As it is very unlikely that you will not be able to download a ringtone from us if you have checked your phone compatibility and wap access, we operate a no-refunds policy due to the very low price we charge on the ringtones. If you have a problem, you can contact our support team to obtain help, but we cannot refund due to mistakes made by the customer.

Are these ringtones legal / have the royalities been paid?

Yes, we pay 15% of each sale to the PRS (Performing Right Society) and MCPS (Mechanical Copyright Protection Society), which is used to pay the artists, labels, etc. responsible for the original work.
